September is Spring in South Africa and the best way to save money is to buy fruit and vegetables that are in season. They are usually plentiful and therefore much cheaper. You can also buy a bit more of the fruit and vegetables, preserve some of the vegetables by making pickles and with the fruit you could be making jams and preserves.

These will keep in your store cupboard at a much cheaper price than the canned and bottled produce selling in the supermarkets.

In September these are the fresh fruit and vegetables in season this month.
